Air December 20, 2000

Thank you Mark, and good morning everyone. Somebody asked me earlier this week if I was still enjoying this weather. Yes I am, and I think it is safe to say that we have a 99% chance of having a white Christmas.

If you haven't taken advantage of the county wide waste tire collection yet, get those old firestones, goodyears or whatever brand you run on into the back of the pickup and into the old landfill. In case you've missed it, we have one last chance for a free disposal of waste tires. You have today, Friday and Saturday and then again after the first of the year, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through January 11th to dispose of your unwanted and old tires. Take them to the old landfill site, that's just south of I-70 off Exit 298, between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM. The guys once said that you don't even have to take them off the rims, but you may want to call George at the Noxious Weed Office, 2384600, just to make sure on that. They also said that tractor tires were included. Each household can bring in up to 100 tires and tires generated by businesses are excluded. Seriously though, I'm sure every farmstead has at least some old tires laying around. You're not going to use them for anything, don't try to tell me you are, so gather them up and get rid of them, while you still can for free!

Christmas is almost upon us, then New Years and then into the grind of a new year. Another year has gone by entirely too fast, or so it seems. Now, I want each and everyone of you to be here in 2001, so we can see just how I'm going to end my radio program each day. Well, there's other reasons I want you all around. As you travel this holiday season, wear your seatbelts. Drive the speed limit, or below especially with some of these roads getting constantly snowed upon. Drive with your headlights on, regardless of time of day. That little extra visibility may be what you need to keep from getting hit. We have wintery roads and added traffic so let's all be extra careful. As for my Christmas present this year - hey, I get a present every day when I go to work and get to be with wonderful folks like all of you

This is Chuck Otte, Geary County Extension Agent, with Ag Outlook 2000, wishing everyone a very merry Christmas!
